Frequently Asked Questions

How can I safely return to normal activities, such as work, travel, and events?

Heed Health’s safer workforce solutions promote preventative workforce measures, including monthly asymptomatic testing, symptom monitoring, and infection control best practices. We tailor the most effective testing strategies based on our clients’ industry and unique workplace needs.

What makes the Heed program different from other testing companies?

Heed offers full-spectrum services to manage your COVID-19 needs, guided by a team of board-certified physicians. We have been helping our clients ensure a safe workplace across various industries since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak through a simple app-based symptom monitoring tool and monthly PCR testing for employees. Any positive screens and tests are promptly addressed by a licensed nurse practitioner or physician to provide guidance to the employer and the employee regarding quarantine and return to work. Employers and designated managers have the ability to view which of their team members have had a positive symptom screen or test. We are constantly evolving our programs to align with the most current public health guidelines and published literature.

Symptom & Exposure Monitoring - What is It? Why is it important?

CDC recommends monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms and isolating if symptoms are present or if there is a confirmed infection to protect those who are not infected. This is particularly important in the workplace where employees may be working in relatively close proximity with one another. We use an app that texts a symptom survey to the employee, making it easy for employees to complete their symptom screen, and for the employer and our clinical team to be alerted to positive screens. By screening employees for COVID-19 symptoms, we can rapidly identify employees who might have COVID-19 infection BEFORE they arrive to work until our clinicians can obtain additional information and advise on the safest timing to return to work.

Does Heed offer rapid testing?

According to CDC, there is currently limited data to support use of rapid antigen tests for screening asymptomatic persons for COVID-19 infection. While rapid tests offer a quick result, studies have reported poor sensitivity of these tests, meaning that they can miss infections in approximately a third of tests. Some experts have proposed doing frequent rapid testing, but further studies are required to demonstrate that this is an effective strategy. Therefore, Heed is not currently offering rapid testing.

How long do I need to have a COVID-19 surveillance program in place?

We have seen multiple COVID-19 surges across various parts of the U.S. and globally. Preliminary estimates suggest that a vaccine may become available as soon as the early part of 2021. Even if the vaccine works well, it may still take several months or longer to vaccinate a large proportion of the population and to develop protection against the virus. Therefore, we recommend having a COVID-19 surveillance program in place at least through mid-2021. This timeline may shift if there are delays in rollout of the vaccine or if the vaccine does not offer a high level of protection.

Do you operate in all states / industries / public vs. private?

We operate in most states and all industries. We provide services for individuals, companies of varying sizes, communities, and events. Click HERE to contact us for more information.

What type of tests does Heed use to detect COVID-19? What will the results tell me?

Heed Health uses PCR COVID-19 testing methods to test for active viral infection. These tests may be done by collecting a saliva sample, nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal sample, or from the inside of the nose. Heed works with premier laboratories in the area with capabilities of producing results as early as 24 hours after the samples arrive to the lab depending on test type.

How much does it cost?
